In our final week of Summer Camp, science and art collided in a fun week, filled with art experiments, learning and fun!  Week 4 campers learned more about art and science while creating one-of-a-kind artwork in drawing, painting and sculpture.

Week 4 artists with their instructors, Mr. Brian (Drawing), Mrs. Rad (Sculpture), & Mr. Jason (Painting).

In drawing students learned about the artist MC Escher who is famous for his detailed optical illusions and Mr. Brian taught them to create their own tessellation designs inspired by the artist.

Mr. Jason taught students painting techniques for creating detailed outer-space scenes.

In sculpture class students created ceramic fossil plates where they pressed found objects and fossils into their clay to create the appearance of real fossils trapped in their plates.

Students became printmakers using legos and ink pads to build unique, printed compositions.

Campers used plaster to create colorful spaceship sculptures, sculpting their rockets using plaster sheets and painting their sculptures with acrylic paints.

At the end of the week campers had fun signing each other’s commemorative aprons and celebrating all of their learning and artwork at the Friday Art Show.
