Pablo Picasso said “Every Child is an Artist” and that was certainly evident during Week 1 of Shemer Art Camp!  Twenty-seven students attended this week and they all learned new skills and techniques in drawing, painting and ceramics. Everyone was impressed by the work displayed at the Friday Art Show.

Week 1 campers had a fantastic week creating and learning together.

The older students created self-portrait mugs or “Mug Mugs” with Mr. James.

While they were here, students had the opportunity to view and learn about the fantastic artwork currently on display.  This shows them viewing the Uncommon Journey exhibition by the Arizona Korean Artist Association.

Students also learned about contemporary artist Pete Cromer and created painted paper collages inspired by his work with Mrs. Noemy.

Mr. Brian taught students how famous artists like M.C. Escher create texture in their artwork.

Week 1 students also learned about pop artists like Keith Haring and then created their own pop art watercolor masterpieces.

We are so proud of all our 2022 artists, who jumped into the fun and created incredible artwork each day!
