MARBLING WITH SUMI INK ON RICE PAPER & MIXED MEDIA PAPERS with Pam Root & Candice Diaz

This fun and enlightening workshop focuses on Experimental Chinese Marbling and Watercolor Painting Techniques. Students will have fun working loosely, while using their newly learned skills to create artwork without any pre-planning. See a one-of-a kind work of art evolve before your eyes while dipping rice paper in water and ink.

Learn how to master rice-paper marbling using just Sumi ink. The marbling will also be done on a variety of mixed media papers. Students will learn to see images and abstract areas that can be painted on with watercolor and acrylic. Instructors will demonstrate how to paint abstractly and create images from nature (such as a tree, flower or bird). Finished marbled paper can be easily used as bookmarks and note cards.

Feel free to bring your own watercolor and acrylic supplies, but they are not required. Rice paper and other media papers, paint and ink will be provided.

Bold Botanicals in Watercolor with Patrice Al-Shatti

This three-part workshop will guide students through using watercolor to paint a single, beautiful flower in close-focus realism. Students will find that when viewed closely, the leaves and petals of a botanical subject are amazing, abstract shapes.

Students will be able to paint a striking, single flower that glows with light and dances with movement. This workshop is a great opportunity to take unique botanical reference images and paint a masterpiece. Watercolor experience is helpful, but not necessary as the class will also review fundamental techniques.

All levels welcome. Click HERE to see a suggested supply list for this class.
