Last Monday we kicked off our 2025 Summer Camps with a creative, educational and fun start! Twenty-seven students ages 6-13 learned about famous artists throughout history, which inspired their own unique, beautiful artwork. While here they learned new skills and techniques in sculpture, painting and, drawing, creating one-of-a-kind artwork to share with their families at the Friday Art Show.
Week 1 artists with their instructors, Mr. Brian (Drawing), Mrs. Rad (Sculpture), & Mr. Jason (Painting).
Drawing instructor, Brian Boner taught students about famous artists, like Andy Warhol, Amedeo Modigliani, Wassily Kandinsky, Georgia O’Keefe, Pablo Picasso and more!
Students in the sculpture studio created sculptural versions of Claude Monet’s waterlilies.
In painting Mr. Jason taught students to create a portrait of themselves in the style of Andy Warhol.
Students also created self portraits inspired by Amedeo Modigliani, copying his style of long necks and simplified shapes.
In drawing, students learned about the artist Robert Rauschenberg and used collage and drawing to turn a cardboard box into a work of art.
In sculpture class, Mrs. Rad taught students about Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night and helped students create a ceramic mug inspired by the painting.
In painting, students used music as their inspiration, creating an abstract work of art inspired by the artist Wassily Kandinsky.
We wrapped up a great week of camp by signing each other’s commemorative aprons and welcoming families to enjoy all the great artwork created at the Friday Art Show (plus ice cream)!
