In the fourth and final week of our 2024 Summer Camps our students traveled the world, through art! Twenty-five campers had fun learning about artists and art traditions from around the globe and they created their own unique works of art inspired by their learning. Students went jet setting around the globe learning about famous artists from Vincent Van Gogh in the Netherlands to Yayoi Kusama in Japan. They had fun learning about different artists and their cultures.

In sculpture class students created ceramic masks inspired by mask traditions from around the world.
Mr. Jason taught campers about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and students created self portraits, portraying themselves in his impressionist style and adding details that are typical of his artwork.
In drawing, students created collage artwork inspired by Pablo Picasso’s famous guitar artwork.
Drawing instructor Brian Boner taught students about the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and the students made polka-dotted pumpkin drawings inspired by her artwork.
On Thursday morning we were visited by Fox10 News, which featured Shemer Art Center’s summer camps in a live segment. Click here and here to watch the live news segment and learn more about all the creativity and learning that took place at Shemer this summer.
