HONORARY CHAIRS:
OSCAR DE LAS SALAS AND GARY JACKSON
SHEMER HONORS is an annual dinner gala, designed after the Kennedy Honors program, which each year recognizes ONE Arizona artist who has achieved great success in his or her career and given back to the Arizona community.
This year’s honoree is Mayme Kratz, represented for the past three decades by Lisa Sette Gallery.
Mixed media artist Mayme Kratz’s work suspends found, natural objects in resin, creating formal designs that elude to the cosmos. An exhibition of Mayme’s work, featuring never seen-before images, will be on display Nov. 2, 2022 – Jan. 5, 2023.
This year’s Shemer Honors event will start with an artist exhibition reception at 6 p.m. at the Shemer Art Center, followed by a dinner and program starting at 7 p.m. The program, to also possibly be broadcast on the Shemer Art Center channel on YouTube for additional event attendees to enjoy virtually, will include a personally narrated exhibition tour by Mayme.
Since 2016 the Shemer Art Center has enjoyed the opportunity to recognize six extraordinary Arizona artists, including Angela Tassoni (2016), Jim Waid (2017), Merrill Mahaffey (2018), Bill Nebeker (2019), Beth Ames Swartz (2020) and Mark Klett (2021).
For our 2022 event we would like to recognize and thank the following event partners and sponsors:
