PW-03-22 Ceramics & Ikebana with Ping Wei

CERAMICS & IKEBANA  with Ping Wei

Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging, is inseparable from ceramic vases. The practice of Ikebana brings natural botanical materials (flowers, branches, leaves etc.) into living spaces. Vases not only provide the function of supplying water to flowers, but also help achieve the perfect harmony between natural materials and man-made forms.
In this three-part workshop, Ping will discuss the Japanese wabi-sabi in the way of ceramics and flowers. In Part One students will create a ceramic vase for their Ikebana arrangement. Students will have the opportunity to create one or two ceramic vases after discussion and demonstration. In Part Two students will learn about glazing and be given an introduction to Ikebana flower arranging. During the final part of this workshop students will get a more in-depth lesson on Ikebana and learn to create their Ikebana arrangements in the beautiful ceramic vases they created.

Fridays | July 8, 15 & 29, 2022 |1 - 4pm | $105 + $45 materials fee (includes glazes and flowers) + $20 clay fee (optional)

SK-06-22 Creating A Collage Book with Sherry Kimmel

CREATING A COLLAGE BOOK with Sherry Kimmel

In this workshop students will create an accordion-style collage book that tells a story about a favorite artist, a family event or a special trip.
Using collage paper, color pictures, embellishments, and paint students will be able to create textures, text, and layering for depth to create a one-of-a-kind collage art book. This is a great course for students who have a collection of photos, painted papers or paper keepsakes that need a good home to display their beauty. Previous experience is not necessary, however the class will be a great opportunity for students who have previously taken Gelli Printing with Sherry Kimmel to put all your beautiful mono prints to use in a cohesive work of art.
Come join the fun in exploring " The Art of Collage".

All levels are welcome.

**Masks are no longer required in classes but are encouraged for those who feel most comfortable continuing to wear them.

PRCD-12-22 Marbling & Collage on Rice Paper with Pam Root & Candice Diaz

MARBLING & COLLAGE ON RICE PAPER with Pam Root & Candice Diaz

This fun and enlightening workshop focuses on Experimental Chinese Marbling and Watercolor Painting Techniques. Students will incorporate collage pieces that have been made by painting rice paper. In this workshop students will have fun working loosely, while using their newly learned skills to create artwork without any pre-planning!

On the first day, students will see a one-of-a kind work of art evolve before their eyes as they dip rice paper in water and ink. They will also learn how to master rice paper marbling using just Sumi ink. After the marbleized pieces dry, on Day Two, students will begin to see images and abstract areas that can be enhanced with painting or collage with watercolor and acrylic.

Finished marbled paper can also be used as bookmarks, note cards and much more. Students are able to bring their own watercolor and acrylic supplies, but it is not required. Rice paper and ink will be provided
