If you have ever wanted to learn how to work with clay, this is the class for you.
Beginning Students
The foundation of any successful thrower is mastering the basics. This introduction to throwing on the wheel will cover centering, bowls, plates, and cylinders. These are the techniques that every potter must learn in order to be skillful and successful. Students will work together in a hands-on environment covering these methods as well as basic history and scientific principles of clay and the wheel.
Intermediate Students
With the basics of throwing under your belt Intermediate students will be encouraged to push their boundaries. A focus on being able to throw more complicated forms such as amphora, sectionals, chargers, and teapots; as well as general sizes and shapes that may lie outside the student’s comfort zone. Pushing these boundaries will help build upon the skills of the potter and increase confidence to pursue more ambitious projects.
