JS-12-22 Wheel Throwing Basics
Description:
Wheel Throwing Basics with James Schwarz
In this beginning pottery class adult students will have an introductory experience with clay focusing on learning to throw on the wheel. Pottery staples such as cylinders, bowls, and plates will be covered, as well as mugs and teapots. This is the perfect class to learn the basics, fall in love with pottery, and make something that will last a lifetime!
New Instructor! James's work as a ceramicist focuses on wheel-thrown work with an emphasis on contrast. When he isn't making whimsical functional ware, he is working on works that focus on recovery from traumatic events; reflecting that even something that has been broken can still hold value.
James is a native of Arizona and has lived in the Valley since 2012. He has worked in ceramics prior at Mesa Community College and the Edna Vihel Arts Center in Tempe.
