DW-62-20 Ceramics: A Focus on Glaze & Form with Danielle Wood

In this class the focus will be on color and glaze in regard to ceramic sculpture. We will be creating sculptures using slabs, coiling, pinch pots, and pillow forms. In creating these forms we will be experimenting with shapes and textures to accent color, and thinking about glaze. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with paper transfers, lusters, and decals during the class. A variety of different handbuilding ideas and techniques will be presented each class that students can try and experiment with.
Information about glaze, ceramic temperature ranges, kiln firing processes will be discussed, different brands and types of glazes will be explored. Group and individual discussions and demonstrations will be available based on the developing needs of the students. In this class, students will be encouraged to explore new ways of working in the themes of their artwork. They will do this through experimentation with glaze, texture and form.
