CERAMICS: EXPLORING GLAZE & COLOR with Danielle Wood

In this class, students will have the opportunity to explore glaze and color. The students will be able to try different glazing techniques with cone 5 glazes, decals, paper transfers, lusters, and china painting. Discussions and demonstrations will be tailored to the developing needs of each artist.

Different handbuilding techniques will also be demonstrated including slab building, coiling, pinch pots, press molds, and drape/slump molds. Discussions will also include how to apply glazes efficiently, feathering glazes, making washes with oxides, and many more techniques. Discussions on the different types of glazes and their firing temperatures will also be available. There will be a glaze intensive, with the opportunity to test different glazes, so that each student will have the opportunity to discover their own palette of glazes for their ceramic artwork.

Clay Request:

*If clay is not requested it will be assumed that no clay is needed

Skill Level: Some experience with clay is encouraged
