Sculpting Whimsical Animals with Jane Kelsey-Mapel

Stretch your imagination while creating whimsical clay animals in this class. Your creations may be inspired by pure fantasy or by historical references such as ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology. Emphasis will be on creating, whimsical and expressive interpretations rather than strict anatomical studies. Construction techniques will include slab, pinch and solid modeling. We’ll experiment with creating texture, color and pattern through surface treatments such as underglaze transfers and slip decorating.

Intermediate to Advanced Level
